Winwatch's NFC watch glass is a passive device; that means no need for batteries. It is completely maintenance-free.

Winwatch's patented watch crystal holds a Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled IC Chip. The IC is selectable as ICODE SLIX or high security, multi-application MIFARE DESFire EV1. The MIFARE DESFire EV1 chip for instance, is based on open global standards for both air interface and cryptographic methods. It is compliant to all 4 levels of ISO/IEC 14443A and uses optional ISO/IEC 7816-4 commands. Featuring an on-chip backup management system and the mutual three pass authentication, a MIFARE DESFire EV1 chip can hold up to 28 different applications and 32 files per application.

 THE NFC CHIP SEALED INSIDE THE WATCH GLASS IS UNCLONABLE AND TAMPER PROOF.

Contactless transmission of data conforming to worldwide standards, operating distance is up to 2cm, operating frequency is 13.56 MHz. It allows you to program it or to store data. It is readable by many NFC equipped devices, as smartphones, PC's, tablets, terminals, kiosks etc. available on market. Once data has been stored in the chip, it allows you to read and view the programmed data including options to launch any application available on market or to execute any function(s) you may program (e.g. access control, contactless payment, 2FA-authentication, etc).
